The Galapagos Islands are a chain of volcanic islands about 600 miles west of the Pacific Ocean. They feature great beaches and very interesting wildlife. The Galapagos Islands are also well known for their value in the scientific field. In the nineteenth century, the HMS Beagle sailed to the Galapagos Islands from Great Britain, and Charles Darwin, a naturalist aboard the ship, was amazed at the diversity of wildlife. His research and findings in the Galapagos are the cornerstone for his theory of evolution. Once the game starts, you'll be put into one of two tribes. One tribe named after the natural beauty of the islands, and one after a symbol of its scientific influence. One of the most well-known creatures that live on the islands are the Galapagos Tortoise. In honor of them, one tribe will be named Tortuga, the Spanish word for Tortoise. These mighty animals grow to be as big as 880 pounds and 6 ft across! The Tortuga tribe will wear green buffs.
